This interactive online course is designed to help Alberta high school students (Grades 10–12) strengthen their English skills and build confidence in reading, writing, and critical thinking. Aligned with the Alberta curriculum, the course covers literature study, essay writing, poetry analysis, and media literacy while also preparing students for classroom assessments and diploma exams.
Through engaging live lessons, guided discussions, and practical assignments, students will learn how to analyze texts, write well-structured essays, and express ideas clearly in both written and oral formats. Each module focuses on building essential skills step by step, from close reading and grammar foundations to advanced essay writing and exam strategies.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Read and analyze texts (novels, plays, poetry, short stories, and media) with confidence.
Identify and apply literary devices such as imagery, symbolism, irony, and theme.
